I'm essentially a figurative artist..I paint light and movement, dancers, underwater figures, nudes.. it's all in the tension and line of 'where light is and isn't'. Nearly all of my paintings are invention, I visualise the image and work it straight on the canvas, don't bother with sketches..no rules. Life drawings are different, they're a collaboration between me and the model. All of my models are volunteers, I'm as much their artist as they are my model..I don't particularly like 'normal' poses, I push and extend them where I can..for the last year or so I've been working on a set or body of drawings, some nearly life-size, seventy of which will be printed up as a limited edition book, probably A2 size.
